Tenant Stabs Landlord Over Being Queried For Welcoming Too Many Women Into Compound.
An Anambra state police have on Tuesday,6th October arrested a 21-year-old man who has been identified as Onyeamachi Mmaju for allegedly stabbing to death his landlord who has been identified as Nonso Oyikoba believed to be 35 years of age in Ogidi Ani-Etiti in Idemili North LGA.
The spokesperson of the state police command in the person of Haruna Mohammed in a statement revealed that police operatives attached to Ogidi Division led by the DPO CSP Ekuri Remigius were alerted on a report of the sudden alleged murder and so rushed to the scene.
It was also reported that the deceased who was soaked with lots of blood on arrival of the police was rushed to Iyi Enu Mission hospital Ogidi for emergency but was confirmed dead by a medical professional on arrival.
Speaking to the spokespersonon on his assessment of the whole situation, he made it known that a very careful observation on the deceased’s body revealed a stab wound on his back while a blood-stained knife allegedly used in perpetrating the act was also recovered as an exhibit at the scene.
Investigations into the matter revealed that the deceased allegedly had a short quarrel with his tenant over the fact that he brings too many women into the compound as this eventually resulted in a scuffle which caused the deceased being stabbed to death,” the statement read.
It was highlighted that the Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang, has ordered for the case to be transferred to the State’s Criminal investigations Department for discreet investigation after which the suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.
