“TAKE AJEGUNLE CHILD ALONG PROJECT”
On the 23rd of October UMBRELLA FOR THE AFRICAN CHILD IN COLLABORATION WITH EAGLES FOUNDATION FOR HUMANITY embarked on a Project taking 25 teenagers from Ajegunle to Lekki. The group ended up at Lufasi Nature Park, lekki where these teenagers had the opportunity to interact with mentors outside Ajegunle and also experience nature.
The idea of this project was to expose these teenagers to other communities outside Ajegunle.
According to the Founder, Mr Samuel Kwame Mensah when asked about Ajegunle he said:
There are a lot of things that are not known about Ajegunle. People don’t have enough information about this community called “Ajegunle”. When the name is mentioned, it’s always identified with social vices: Street Fighting, Prostitution, Armed Robbery etc.
But this is not a true reflection of the community. The community is made up of youths who are very industrious and are ready to develop and empower themselves with a view to changing the perception of people about Ajegunle.
This wonderful community is made up of boxers, footballers, Actors and Actress to mention a few. Don’t forget great people like: Daddy Showkey, a great musician, Samson Siasia , a former Super Eagles player /Coach , Chioma Ajunwa an Athlete, Olympic Gold Medalist, Jude Ighalo , former Manchester United player , Lyta , musician. Are all products of this community “Ajegunle”.
What does that tell you? What the community needs is support from the three tiers of Government, namely: Federal , State , Local Government. With the backing of these Governments we believe the community will achieve its dreams.
UMBRELLA FOR THE AFRICAN CHILD is an organization passionate about the wellbeing and development of the African Child and they are committed to supporting the growth of children across West Africa.
