RESPECTFULLY, the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Police Service should pay critical attention to the mishandling and playful attitude towards dead bodies in Ghana currently and put an end to it as soon as possible.

In recent times, social media has witnessed the rampant mishandling of corpses by attendees at many funeral gatherings which comes across as very alarming as this could cause very serious consequences to the health security of the country at large.

In concerning developments, health experts have emphasized the critical detriments that is bound to happen as a result of mishandling dead bodies to public health . Improper handling of dead bodies can escalate into national health crises if care isn’t take.

Health crisis such as disease transmission as a result of the pathogens present in the decomposing body. When these pathogens spread rapidly especially in populated areas, a massive epidemic is sure to happen . Ebola and other contagious illnesses are some of the contagious diseases that await us.

Funerals are undoubtedly one of the final rites of passage meant to honor the deceased. It is only honorable that the demised is given a befitting burial and this delinquent conduct does not cut it . This deportment is rather a disregard for the corpse .

It has become eminently clear that this recalcitrant behavior will not be put to an end until drastic measures are taken by the Ghana health service in conjunction with the Ghana Police Service and our local municipalities to curb this abysmal behavior.

Evidently, the ancient elders who once wore the mantle of time, thought it wise to device the funeral rites of members of their village, to ceremonially bid their farewell to their loved ones. These funeral rites that seem to possess the cultural heritage of our country seem to be taken for granted by this youthful act of mishandling dead bodies and should be stopped.
