His Excellency The President Of The Republic Of Ghana To Leave The Country On A Nine Day Working Visit From Sunday-Details.

His Excellency The President of the republic of Ghana is expected to leave the country on Sunday, May 16 on a nine-day official working visit to France, Belgium and South Africa.

It has been told that, these working visits are part of the efforts the President is taking up to re-engage the rest of the world.This follows the onset of the pandemic. The traveling endeavor is to highlight Ghana once again as one of the countries with an impressive business-friendly atmosphere and bright economic prospects for the future. 

Reports from the presidency has it that, the president will first attend a Summit on Financing African Economies in Paris on Tuesday which happens to be the 18th of May under the invitation of the French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The Financing African Economies Summit set to host several African and European leaders as well as heads of international financial institutions has one of its major aims and that is to devise strategies that will boost strong, inclusive recovery in Africa, grounded in a dynamic private sector, help foster sustainable progress and prosperity, and accelerate the green and digital transition in line with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

During his short presence in Paris, President Akufo-Addo will have a bilateral discussion with the President of the world bank as well as the Managing Director of the IMF.

President Akufo-Addo from Wednesday, the 16th of May be in Belgium to hold bilateral talks with the President and officials of the European Council and also meet with stakeholders committed to the partnership between Ghana and the European Union.

The talks between the Nana Akuffo Addo and President Charles Michel are expected to center on regional security, as well as dig more into sustainability issues in the cocoa and fisheries sectors of Ghana and their impact on relations between Ghana and the European Union. 

During his working visit, the President will meet with the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Dr. Werner Hoyer and participate in the ceremony for the signing of a €160 million facility between EIB and the Ministry of Finance towards the establishment of the National Development Bank. 

The president will also attend an investor conference in Brussels on behalf of Ghana and also hold a meeting with Ms. Jutta Urpilainen, the EU Commissioner on International Co-operation to discuss issues relating to the COVAX Facility which is currently responsible for supplying Covid-19 vaccines to the country.    

President Akufo-Addo on his last hurdle of the working visit will address the Fourth Ordinary Session of the Fifth Parliament of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) which has been scheduled to take effect on Monday, May 24, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

It has been made known that, deliberations of this session will be guided by the African Union (AU) with its 2021 theme as : ‘Year of the Arts, Culture and Heritage: Levers for Building the Africa We Want’.

President Akufo-Addo will be tightly accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Finance, and officials of the Presidency as well as the Foreign and Finance Ministries and will be joined in Brussels by the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, and the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Cocoa Board.  

He is expected to return to the country on Tuesday, May 25.
