The Supreme Court has again dismissed another filing by the National Democratic Congress and this time has to do with John Mahama’s application for stay of proceedings.

His Excellency the former president Mahama filed the application through his lawyers and this comes after the dismissal of his application for interrogatories.

The Flagbearer wants the hearing of the substantive case paused until his review application was finally determined.

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, Mahama filed a petition before the Supreme Court to challenge the outcome of the presidential race and according to him, the election was rigged in favour of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

By the records provided by the senior returning officer of the Electoral Commission, Akufo-Addo defeated Mahama in the election to secure another four-year term by collecting 51.302% of the votes cast against the latter’s 47.359%.

Detailed records indicated that vote difference between the two candidates stood at 517, 231, representing a four percentage point.

As it stands now, Mahama wants a rerun of the 2020 presidential election between him and Akufo-Addo, stating that there was no winner as he challenges the digits and declaration brought forth by the Electoral Commission.
