Bright Mensah believed to be a 15 year old boy has met his unexpected death after drowning in an abandoned illegal mining pit situated at Amuanapraso in Birim in the North District of the Eastern Region.
Parents of the deceased said that Bright left home on April 30, 2020. The reason behind leaving home according to his parents was to visit a family member in the community but did not return.
Upon his absence, the police and the youth made efforts in searching for him only for them to discover he was in a pit filled with water.
Reports indicates that many of the children in the community mostly find their way around the pit to swim and therefore can be concluded that it might be for the same mission that Bright lost his life.
His body has been deposited at Holy Family Hospital Mortuary.
