French National Thomas Pesquet in less than 48 hours will return to the International Space Station on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spaceship. This will make him the only French astronaut to conduct a second mission to the ISS and serve as the first French commander at the station.
However, this is not Pesquet’s first interaction with a SpaceX spaceship. During his last mission at the ISS, which lasted from November 2016 and June 2017, it was a SpaceX cargo ship that brought him his birthday present on Feb. 23, 2017: a saxophone.

For that mission, he was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with a Russian Soyuz MS-03 spaceship. During his stay at the ISS, Psequet conducted two spacewalks, during which he took a selfie of himself with the earth in the background.

“We are going to be conducting many exciting experiments,” said Pesquet in his exclusive interview with France 24, on his upcoming mission to the ISS.
