Information reaching the front desk of UrsTruly Praiz News has it that, the National Communication Authority has embarked on a thorough search into the operations of most tv and radio stations in the country precisely Accra and this has resulted in the possible shutdown of 49 tv stations.
The head regulator of the organizations in an interview made it known that, this operations forms part of a continuous monitoring exercise conducted on various Satellite Free-to-Air Television platforms using the Broadcast Monitoring System (BMS) and the Radio Spectrum Monitoring System.
The monitoring revealed that, some channels were operating without valid authorisations, which means they were acting contrary to Section 2(4) of the Electronic Communications Act 775 of their Constitution which states emphatically that, ‘Except as provided by this Act or any other law not inconsistent with this Act, a person shall not operate a broadcasting system or provide a broadcasting service without a frequency authorisation by the Authority’.
