The very sad and unfortunate reports that have arrived on the front desk of UrsTruly Praiz News tells much about an attack and a shooting incident that has occured in Koforidua just close to two hours ago.
In the reports, we are being served that highway armed robbers have shot the driver of an Ambulance that is rushing a pregnant woman in labour to the Eastern Regional Hospital from Akuse government Hospital
The Ghana Ambulance Service driver is said to be in a very critical brain injury condition following being shot in the head and therefore being referred from Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Facts being gathered is that the driver in charge of Yilo Krobo Constituency Ambulance with registration Number GV 644-20 went to pick the woman in preterm labour (31 weeks) from Akuse government Hospital to Eastern Regional Hospital since Akuse Hospital has no neonatal intensive care unit(NICU) but unfortunately bumped into a robbery operation on the road while speeding hence failed to stop and this forced the armed robbers to open fire on the ambulance.
Upon reaching the scene, the police patrol team rushed the injured driver and the pregnant mother in labor to Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital.
Speaking to the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sergeant Francis Gomado confirmed the incident when contacted but says the regional Command was awaiting a preliminary investigation report from the Somanya district command.
