A serious collision between a Hyundai Space Bus and Ford Transit vehicle has resulted in the untimely death of five onboard passengers leaving many others in critical injury conditions.
The fatality occurred at Tefle-Glamanuonyikpo which happens to be a town near Sogakope in the early hours of Tuesday thus dawn between the hours of 3 and 4 am.
Reports by eyewitnesses had it that the accident occurred as a result of an inappropriate overtaking by the Ford Transit vehicle which was heading to Accra from Sogakope.
“The Ford Transit in an attempt to switch off the road after realizing there could be danger, collided sideways with the Hyundai Universe Space Bus which was travelling from Kumasi to Aflao.” some said.
It was recorded that four occupants of the Ford Transit of which two are females and the two others being males including the driver’s mate died on the spot while another male occupant was also pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
It has been made known that a joint team of personnel from the Police MTTU Department, fire service, and the Ambulance Service arrived at the scene to rescue, and convey injured survivors to the Sogakope District Hospital.
Reports have it that it took about an hour effort by the Sogakope Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to remove the entangled rear part of the Ford Transit which got separated from its frontal part from the Hyundai bus.
It is currently not very clear the total number of passengers that got involved in the accident but the five counted deaths have got the remains being deposited at the Sogakope District Hospital morgue waiting family identification.
