
The Ghana Gaming Commission has as at yesterday taken Ghanaian Celebrities by so much surprise as they have released reports that suggest that they have banned the use of their faces and brands as ambassadors for betting companies.
The Gaming Commission explained that their decision is due to the fact that there is an increasing rate of celebrities endorsing betting companies of which tends to lure young fans into gambling.
The beginning of this year for instance saw the signing of celebrated personalities like Nadia Buari, Wendy Shay, Efya, Jackie Appiah, Moesha Boduong, Salma Mumin, Selly Gally, Zynell Zuh, Sandra Ankobiah, Lilwin, KiDi and many others as ambassadors for Bet Planet which happens to be the reigning biggest betting company in Ghana now.
The Gaming commission in their newly issued development stated that companies cannot encourage people to bet using these individuals with huge social media presence and so much influence.
It was stated clearly in the statement released “Operators shall not use celebrities in their advertisements to entice the general public to gamble,”.
