A personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces who happens to be on duty amidst operation covid-19 safety has been reported to have shot a 50-year-old motor rider.
Close sources say the victim was shot for allegedly employing route regarded unapproved at a barrier in Dobro located in Nsawam Adoagyir Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Police reports has it that, the man in question proved very recalcitrant after several signals by the forces to warn him of his inability to use the said route as it was an unauthorized one.
Reports say, the man jumped a bamboo barricade at the barrier where the security officers were doing road snap checks and nearly ran into some military men there and in attempt to stop the rider the unnamed military man aimed at the back tyre of the motorbike and shot.
Upon falling off the motor bike and sustaining injuries he was rushed to the Nsawam Government Hospital for immediate medical attention.
The Nsawam Divisional Police Commander in the person of Sup Marian Adu- Osei said the rider in his oral statement claimed his brakes failed and basically the reason why it seemed he wasn’t obeying the signals been given by the personnel adding that investigations have commenced to establish the true facts of the incident.
Health officials are meanwhile waiting on an X-ray results to ascertain whether the man suffered from the gunshot.
