The Ashanti Regional police command on Saturday made an arrest on a number of students believed to be from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
These students were apprehended on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
During the climax of a hall week celebration by students of the famous Unity Hall of the university, 34 students were rounded up police through an alleged tip-off.
Speaking on the matter, the police made it known that the students were moved to the Regional CID in Kumasi just after failing to give tangible reasons on theirtheir presence on the KNUST campus at such evil hours of the day.
As it stands, the SRC Of of UCC has told that it has “taken initial steps to ascertain the veracity of the situation.”
In a released statement by the SRC, a part read that, “Some executives of the SRC, together with the Atlantic Hall President, have visited the police and have begun engagements with the CID in charge of the case”,
“All students should remain calm to avoid further aggravation of the situation”, the statement further added.
The arrest is believed to be in escort with the warnings that has been released from the higher grounds of the Ashanti Regional Peace Council stating clearly that the university is still in a security zone and as such no activities whatsoever should be in line with disturbing the university community.
